Department Summary:
MITRE’s Immersive Experimentation department builds extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation capabilities used primarily for immersive experimentation and rapid prototyping to address our sponsors’ missions. We are looking for someone eager to apply their software engineering, creativity, and game engine development skills in a dynamic research environment supporting development of 3D virtual environments for human-in-the-loop simulation and safety assurance and testing of autonomous systems. Our premier laboratories bring together a broad set of integrated capabilities for demonstration, experimentation, and 3D visualization. These labs are extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation environments based on an open, layered architecture. We leverage digital twins, game engines, extended reality, and artificial intelligence to conduct rapid prototyping and experimentation to address complex systems engineering challenges and to conduct scientific research.
The position requires creative problem-solving skills, good communication skills, an eagerness to learn new skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
