Youth Programs Camp Counselor (Seasonal, Part-Time)

Pay: $18.70 – $23.24/hour

Youth Programs within the Department of Recreation and Wellness is seeking energetic seasonal Camp Counselors to help deliver engaging, safe, and inclusive experiences for children of all ages and abilities.

Position Overview

Camp Counselors are responsible for creating a positive, supportive camp environment where children feel safe, included, and encouraged to learn and grow. You will lead and participate in sports, games, activities, and field trips while helping manage group dynamics and ensuring camper well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the emotional and physical safety of campers
  • Lead and participate in sports, recreational activities, and camp programming
  • Plan, organize, and implement engaging activities for youth groups
  • Monitor camper behavior, address conflicts, and promote positive group interaction
  • Follow all safety procedures and camp guidelines
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to support camp goals and operations
  • Respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies
  • Support the mission and values of Stanford Recreation and Wellness

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or age 16+ preferred
  • Experience working with youth (Grades K–12 preferred)
  • Interest in youth development and camp programming
  • Knowledge of or interest in sports and group activities
  • Prior camp experience is a plus

Physical & Safety Requirements

  • Ability to actively lead group activities and participate in physical play
  • Strong visual and auditory awareness to monitor camper safety
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
