The Opportunity
Are you a dedicated advocate ready to stand up for injured workers? We are looking for a Workers’ Compensation Attorney to take ownership of a diverse caseload and make a meaningful impact in the lives of employees across North Carolina. In this role, you will represent plaintiff-employees throughout every stage of their claims—from initial case handling through complex litigation and appeals.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocacy & Representation: Represent injured employees in North Carolina workers’ compensation claims.
- Full-Cycle Case Management: Manage cases across all phases, including pre-litigation, discovery, and settlement negotiations.
- Litigation Leadership: Litigate cases before the Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
- Legal Drafting: Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and appellate briefs with precision.
- Strategic Negotiation: Negotiate settlements and advocate for favorable outcomes for your clients.
- Client Guidance: Lead clients through the legal process with clarity and confidence.
- Team Oversight: Collaborate with and oversee case managers and paralegals to ensure operational excellence.
What You’ll Bring
- Credentials: J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice in North Carolina.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in workers’ compensation (plaintiff or defense); plaintiff-side experience is preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of medical issues and hearing processes specifically related to workers’ compensation.
- Skill Set: Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, with a high degree of organization and attention to detail.
- Mindset: A self-motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience with Litify is considered a plus.
