The Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom or online instruction and related activities. The Instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any College campus as assigned. As a minimum, the related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.

  • Assume responsibility for instruction primarily in afternoon and evening Welding courses as assigned.
  • Assist in departmental projects, such as the preparation/selection of departmental course syllabi, collection and analysis of learning outcomes data, selection of textbooks/materials, etc.
  • Master software and technology as needed in order to enhance instruction; develop, and deliver web-based instruction in accordance with standards set by the College.
  • Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
  • Travel to local high schools or other educational sites to teach classes as needed.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors.
  • Be an Ambassador for the College.
  • Support the college’s initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the State Board of Education, the Department of Postsecondary Education, and the College.
  • Participate in College functions (Award and Honor events, Alumni Homecoming, Commencement, etc.).
  • Assume other work-related workforce development responsibilities as delegated by an appropriately assigned College administrator.

Required-Associates degree from a regionally-accredited institution in a closely related field.

Required- Three (3) years of work experience in the Welding Technology field

Required- AWS Welding certification.

Preferred- OSHA 10 certification, Forklift certification

Preferred- Pipe welding experience

Preferred- Experience teaching at the college level is preferred. Experience teaching online courses preferred. Experience with student engagement and/or civic engagement is also preferred.

Based on Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees Local Salary Schedule
D1 - 9 month.
