Job Description

This role focuses on precision TIG welding of stainless steel and aluminum within a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will use both hand-welding and automated equipment to join metal components, fabricate parts, and support the production of gauges, pressure transducers, and related products. The position offers a clear progression path through multiple technician levels, each providing opportunities to build expertise, take on more complex work, and contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum components in accordance with engineering specifications and company standards.
  • Use layout tools, diagrams, and blueprint specifications to plan and execute welding and fabrication tasks accurately.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine material requirements, weld sequence, and fabrication details.
  • Prepare material surfaces for welding by cleaning, aligning, and securing parts to ensure proper fit and strong weld joints.
  • Operate hand-welding and automated welding equipment to join metal components, fill holes, indentations, and seams on fabricated metal products.
  • Perform basic machining and fabrication tasks as needed, including work with lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to support weld and assembly operations.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welded joints and perform initial quality checks to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain welding and fabrication equipment in good working condition and promptly report any issues or malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Follow all relevant safety standards and consistently use required personal protective equipment while working.
  • Participate actively in a lean manufacturing environment by following standardized work, supporting continuous improvement, and helping to eliminate waste.
  • Produce quality parts at the required takt time while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with team members in a team-oriented setting to meet production goals and support the successful launch and growth of the second shift operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient TIG welding skills, specifically on stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Strong fabrication skills, including fitting, assembling, and welding metal components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders accurately.
  • Experience operating hand-welding and basic automated welding equipment.
  • Understanding of and adherence to welding safety standards, including consistent use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and basic quality checks on welded parts.
  • Capability to work to takt time and meet production and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with MIG welding is a plus.
  • Experience in machining or machine building, including use of lathes, mills, and related equipment, is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility that focuses on precision production of metal components and assemblies. You will work with TIG welding equipment, and may also use MIG welding and machining tools such as lathes and mills, along with standard fabrication and assembly tools. The culture is team oriented, with close collaboration among welders, fabricators, and technicians to meet production goals and quality standards. The standard first shift runs from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and there is an expanding second shift that offers additional opportunities for growth and advancement.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sunbury, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
