Welder Quality Control Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment through effective communication with customers, coworkers, clients, and supervisors.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports by supporting training, performance, productivity, and professional growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers; coordinate with engineering, drafting, sales, estimating, shipping, and production teams to establish project schedules.
  • Plan, formulate, and implement inspection and quality assurance plans.
  • Direct daily activities of the assigned work unit to ensure compliance with contractual and quality requirements.
  • Establish work schedules, priorities, and assignments for team members.
  • Determine quality assurance methodologies and inspection techniques for systems and materials.
  • Conduct internal and external quality audits and prepare detailed reports documenting findings.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the quality management system, including data analysis and statistical reporting.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to address quality issues, task failures, and non-conformances.
  • Maintain and manage the non-conformance system daily to ensure defects do not reach the customer.
  • Review and recommend changes to quality programs, procedures, standards, and specifications.
  • Prepare and coordinate quality documentation for proposals, quotes, manuals, and customer requests.
  • Manage all required third-party special inspections for assigned projects.
  • Update and maintain the QA manual regularly to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Advise leadership and other managers on quality system performance and project status.
  • Participate in interviewing, testing, and onboarding of new hires.
  • Perform administrative duties including approving timecards, vacation requests, performance reviews, and planning work methods.
  • Ensure regular, reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge in Quality Control and Quality Assurance
  • Experience with MIG welding, fabrication, welding inspections, and blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes
  • Familiarity with GMP, OSHA 30, and safety standards
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software
  • Working knowledge of BlueBeam and D365 is a plus

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of Quality Control experience
  • 5+ years of progressive management or leadership experience (preferred)
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) (required or strongly preferred)
  • ASNT Level II certification (preferred)
  • ASNT Level III certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of AISC and ISO certification programs (preferred)
  • Experience in the structural steel, joist, or girder industry strongly preferred

This is a Permanent position based out of Buckeye, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
