Role: Quality Manager
Location:Orange, MA(locals and relocation is also fine)
Qualifications:
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from AWS.
- Minimum 7 years of quality management experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code, AWWA standards, and other relevant industry codes.
- Experience managing weld certification programs and conducting welder performance testing.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, weld symbols, and engineering drawings.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and building cross-functional relationships.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in gate manufacturing, water control systems, or heavy structural fabrication.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar QMS standards.
- Experience with NDT methods such as visual, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, or dye penetrant testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Welding Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Job Overview:
The Quality Manager will oversee all quality assurance processes, ensuring the highest standards of product quality and regulatory compliance. This role will lead the quality team: collaborate with production, engineering, and management teams, and implement robust inspection procedures for welding, fabrication, and or assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage the Quality Department, including weld inspectors, technicians, and quality staff.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) to comply with industry standards such as AWS, AWWA, and ISO requirements.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across production and quality processes.
Welding & Certification Oversight
- Oversee all weld certification programs, including qualifying welders to applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct or supervise weld inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required.
- Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQs).
- Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1, AWWA C706, and other applicable codes.
- Provide technical guidance to welding teams on processes, techniques, and quality improvements.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintain documentation and records required for customer audits, regulatory reviews, and internal quality reporting.
- Ensure all manufactured products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to resolve quality concerns during production and installation phases.
Continuous Improvement & Training
- Develop and deliver training programs for welders, quality personnel, and production teams on quality standards and welding practices.
- Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce defects and increase efficiency.
