Job Summary:

Responsible for the daily cleaning, maintenance, repair, and inspection of the District's wastewater facilities and related infrastructure. Performs a variety of scheduled duties related to the care, upkeep, maintenance, and/or repair of the District's wastewater and related infrastructure as assigned by the Division Supervisor and Director. Communicate effectively with Division Supervisor and Director in providing recommendations of needed maintenance and repairs. Responsible for assisting the Wastewater facilities staff in promoting the District's mission, vision, and values. Must demonstrate safety leadership by promoting and facilitating the safety of coworkers and the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Independently performs and leads crew in the maintenance, inspections and repairs of all pumps, valves, generators, piping, or any appurtenances and other infrastructure related to the District's wastewater facilities.
  2. Coordinates with IT Operational Technology Division, Wastewater Repair and Replacement Division, and Administrative groups on wastewater system maintenance, field activities and special repairs. Assists the IT Operational Technology Division with capital improvement completion, start-up, testing, and transfer to normal operations and maintenance.
  3. Keeps timely and accurate records of daily inspections, maintenance, and repairs on Cityworks and trains other staff to do the same. Reviews, and ensures accuracy of all inspections and work orders created by crew members.
  4. Provides training to new staff on procedures, maintenance and repairs of the wastewater facilities. Trains department staff in on-call responsibilities related to wastewater facilities.
  5. Evaluates, recommends, budgets and communicates repairs, maintenance and concerns related to wastewater facilities with the Division Supervisor and Director.
  6. Responsibly operates and maintains assigned District equipment and vehicles.
  7. Actively take part in the Operations On-Call program. Must be able to respond after hours, as needed, to help with emergency situations and repairs.

General Qualification Requirements

Prior Work Experience: At least three years of job-related prior experience. Supervisor experience preferred. Additional technical training in electrical, mechanical and plumbing preferred.

Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses, Certifications, Etc.:

  1. Valid Utah Commercial Driver's License: Class B with Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements required, with Hazmat endorsement preferred.
  2. Utah State Wastewater Collections Grade IV certification required.
  3. Utah Water Distribution Grade IV certification required

    1. Specific vision abilities include: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. Ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
    2. Must be able to tolerate noise levels from moderate to very loud
    3. Challenging working conditions within wastewater facilities. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Frequent exposure to moderate noise, airborne particles, oils, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, near street traffic or confined spaces.
