Vice President, Product, Engineering & Operations (recruiting for Sensera Systems)


Based in Golden, Colorado, Sensera Systems (www.SenseraSystems.com) designs and manufactures solutions for real-time job site intelligence. Our flagship products include compact solar/wireless cameras and software that provide end-to-end solutions for visual monitoring. We serve construction, government, energy & utilities, and other industrial markets. Over 100 cities and municipalities across the U.S. use Sensera solutions to improve their public works, law enforcement, and community engagement.


Summary:

Reporting directly to the CEO and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the VP, Product, Engineering & Operations is a cross-functional executive leader tasked with unifying the product lifecycle from definition to delivery. This role provides strategic oversight for new product development, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing processes while communicating progress to the Executive Leadership Team. The VP ensures that market requirements and technical innovations are seamlessly integrated into a scalable, high-quality product line.


Responsibilities:

  • Executive Alignment: Align Engineering, Product, and Manufacturing efforts with the company's broader commercial objectives and growth goals.
  • Ensure seamless hand-offs between Product requirements, Engineering design, and Manufacturing production to reduce time-to-market and ensure product launch reliability.
  • Roadmap & Strategy: Drive the product roadmap in alignment with the company vision, ensuring all stakeholders (CEO, CTO, Sales, Marketing) are vetted and prioritized.
  • Engineering Oversight: Drive engineering goals for new product development, project management, sustaining, and value engineering.Provide technical and engineering practice guidance to the team.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive all facets of manufacturing, including output, quality, safety, supply chain, and high-level vendor negotiations. Identify pain points in the bill of materials and supply chain in order to prevent problems from impacting the business.
  • Process Governance: Own the New Product Process (NPP) and NPI process, ensuring Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is considered in every hardware offering.
  • Oversight and improvement of the quality management process.
  • Financial & Resource Planning: Oversee product, engineering, and manufacturing budgets. Own forecasting and headcount capacity planning for the three departments.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and 15+ years of experience in product management, engineering and operations leadership within a similar industrial market delivering a hardware / software solution.
  • Proficiency in web application architecture, mechanical design of electronic components, image/video processing, embedded IoT technologies and outdoor electronics enclosure design.
  • Proven experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices. Proven experience managing complicated supply chains and delivering on value engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop ROI models and use "soft-power" skills to effect cross-functional change.
  • Experience managing directors and scaling technical teams in a fast-paced environment. The position will manage directors in engineering, product, and operations – total team in the 20-30 employee range.
