Vice President of Personnel
About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic, hands-on VP of Personnel to partner with executive and operations leadership in Birmingham, AL. This role plays a key part in aligning people strategy with business performance, supporting workforce planning, leadership development, and a culture that drives safety, productivity, and retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce strategy and operational challenges
- Partner with frontline leaders to improve team performance, engagement, and retention
- Lead workforce planning and address talent gaps, turnover, and leadership pipeline needs
- Coach and develop leaders to build strong, high-performing teams
- Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and employee engagement
- Oversee compensation and benefits strategy to remain competitive and support retention
- Provide leadership across core HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, and compliance
Qualifications
- 10+ years of HR or workforce leadership experience
- Experience with managing operational HR over 500-1500 people
- Background supporting trucking-related or similar industries (transportation, construction, logistics, or manufacturing)
- Proven ability to partner with operations and solve complex workforce challenges
- Strong business acumen and leadership presence
- Willingness to engage directly with frontline teams
