Job Title: Medical Director
Reports to: Regional Operations Director

Position Overview:
The role of Medical Director will play a pivotal part in delivering exceptional veterinary care with a focus on leading clinic initiatives and developing a high performing team. This role will be a mix of a practicing Veterinarian and monitoring and managing staff and clinic protocols. Through partnership with WagWay Whole Health leadership, Paw Springs Veterinary Clinic Veterinarians, and support staff, you will promote a comprehensive understanding of pet health and longevity to pet parents. As a clinical leader, you will perform work as both a practicing and managing Veterinarian.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Ensure all team members consistently deliver the highest standard of veterinary care: safe, effective, patient and client centered, timely and efficient and equitable.
- Partner closely with the Regional Operations Director on key operational areas including budgeting, staffing, and hospital productivity, with quarterly reviews of KPIs to monitor performance and drive improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of medical protocols and operating procedures to ensure patient care standards are met while maintaining an exceptional client experience.
- Develop and manage the clinic doctor schedule to effectively balance hospital needs with Associate Veterinarian coverage and well-being
- Mentor and develop Associate Veterinarians through hands-on coaching, structured feedback, and regular case discussions, focusing on clinical competency, performance metrics, client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping and productivity.
- Lead daily morning rounds and facilitate monthly doctor and staff meetings to strengthen communication, alignment, and a positive hospital culture.
- Collaborate with the Hospital Practice Manager to ensure a seamless client experience, including resolution of client concerns or complaints when needed.
- Support recruitment efforts for doctors and support staff to attract, hire, and retain top-tier veterinary talent.
- Serve as an ambassador for Paw Springs within the veterinary community and broader public, promoting the organization’s reputation and values.
- Model, uphold, and reinforce Paw Springs culture and core values across both the team and client interactions.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care, nutrition, exercise, behavior and emotional well-being.
- Empower technicians and support staff by promoting an inclusive learning environment, sharing best practices, and adhering to high standards of medical care.
- Work closely with pet care and wellness service teams to co-market services that promote pet longevity.
- Conduct routine health assessments and exams, prescribe and administer medications, develop preventative health care plans including vaccination schedules, conduct nutrition evaluations, and conduct routine dental care.
- Leverage technology to enhance the pet parent and companion experience, ensuring efficient communication and care management.
- Stay informed about the latest digital tools and trends in veterinary medicine and pet wellness.
- Ensure complete and accurate medical records complying with states, federal, and industry regulations.
- Participate in community outreach and educational programs to promote animal health awareness and responsible pet ownership.
- Build strong relationships with pet parents to foster a supportive and trusting environment.
Education & Certifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited veterinary school.
- 7 – 10 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian
- 5+ years of experience in leadership or managerial role.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the state.

- Stand and/or walk for up to 6 hours without a break.
- Kneel, bend, squat, and twist their body.
- Repetitive hand and arm movement; reach, grab, pull, and push objects.
- Perform duties in an environment with loud sounds from animals and smells from pet waste and cleaning chemicals.
- Perform work both indoors and outdoors; experiencing temperature changes according to season, building heating and cooling, and weather.
- Lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
