The estimated base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $110,000 per year.

Value Stream Specialist

The Value Stream Specialist (VSS) is responsible for daily adherence to standard processes within the Value Stream while providing management, coordination, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing process. This includes Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People development while supporting production/maintenance supervisors and their teams. This role is primarily responsible for tactical day-to-day standard adherence of the Value Stream while driving the elimination of waste.

What You'll Be Doing

Day-to-Day Operations & Leadership

  • Facilitate daily GEMBA activities within the Value Stream.
  • Coach team members on process control standards, methodologies, and equipment capabilities.
  • Provide on-shift technical support and operational supervision as needed.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily maintenance, contractor, and production activities.
  • Plan and coordinate activities surrounding down days, major shutdowns, and holiday periods.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Drive improvement projects across the Value Stream.
  • Lead countermeasure follow-up and facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), 5-Whys, and special cause analysis.
  • Manage completion of root cause failure analysis within operations.
  • Drive improvements through effective down day planning and execution.
  • Develop and improve manpower utilization processes.

Operational Coordination & Process Management

  • Coordinate operations with production planning, raw material flow, inventory, packaging, and material quality.
  • Recommend solutions for inclusion in annual Capital and Maintenance Budgets.
  • Coordinate development and adherence to Standard Work, specifications, troubleshooting guides, and process documentation.
  • Develop and improve plant communication processes between operations, maintenance, lab, staff, and leadership.
  • Own and coordinate operator training systems.

  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and eliminate operational waste.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using RCFA, 5-Why, DMAIC, PDCA, or similar methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across operations, maintenance, leadership, and suppliers.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and leverage plant systems to identify opportunities and improve performance.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in a continuous manufacturing process.
  • Experience utilizing 8-Step Problem Solving, DMAIC, and/or PDCA methodologies.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant business systems including:
    • Work order processes
    • Raw material flow
    • Project planning
    • Production scheduling
    • Down day planning
    • Work rules
  • Advanced experience with Lean Manufacturing initiatives and organizational transformation efforts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 5+ years of manufacturing experience OR Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering, Business, or related discipline).
  • Knowledge and practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing or process improvement principles.
  • Proven ability to implement and audit systems that drive manufacturing performance.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the work of others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Integration skills to effectively leverage operations, maintenance, suppliers, and support teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MiniTab.
  • Working technical knowledge of:
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • DMAIC
    • Six Sigma
    • Kaizen
  • Ability to pull and analyze data from systems including:
    • Data Historian
    • MX
    • SAP
    • Other plant systems
