Position Summary:Nichols School seeks a full-time Upper School science teacher (Grades 9-12) for the 2026-27 academic year. The ideal candidate will teach science courses as assigned, with a primary focus on AP Biology and College Preparatory Biology, and will be able to teach other core subjects (e.g., chemistry and/or physics) as required by the program.
The successful candidate will use science as a springboard for higher-level critical and creative thinking, helping students make meaningful connections between content and the world around them. We are seeking an educator who values inquiry-based learning, embraces the thoughtful use of technology as an instructional tool, and is committed to engaging students in a rigorous, supportive classroom environment.
Primary Duties:
Teach four sections of Upper School Science with a primary focus on AP Biology and College Preparatory Biology, but capable of teaching other core subjects (e.g., chemistry and/or physics), depending on need.
Adapt lessons and approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Serve as an Upper School advisor to a group of approximately 10 students.
Work closely and effectively with members of the Science department to ensure that the curriculum flows smoothly.
Communicate proactively, positively, and professionally with parents to support students' academic, social-emotional, and physical needs.
Engage in continued professional development.
Provide timely feedback and collaborate with faculty to offer specialized support.
Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
Attend scheduled division, advisor, faculty, and department meetings.
Participate in the traditions, culture, and events of the Upper School.
Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole as assigned.
Open to being involved in competitive STEM, assisting in Science Olympiad or FIRST Robotics, or directing a club.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field; advanced degree preferred.
