Tutoring Coordinator

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Academic Success, Tutoring Coordinators facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of Tutoring Center services with the goal of improving student success, retention, and degree completion. They coordinate Tutoring Center services including drop-in tutoring, Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) groups, pre-scheduled recurring tutoring, and Study Squads (study groups). The professional staff support and supervise approximately 60 student staff members (Tutors, Lead Tutors, and Marketing Interns), carry out day to day operations, and collaborate with campus partners to support student success and retention.

  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, mentoring, and evaluating tutors in order to maintain high quality of assistance.

  • Coordinate Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Groups (modeled after Supplemental Instruction) by collaborating with faculty to identify and recruit PAL group leaders.

  • Develop tutor training aligned with best practices in academic support and learning strategies.

  • Facilitate record-keeping across all services to ensure accurate reporting of program usage and program efficacy and work with the Executive Director to gather and analyze assessment/evaluation data.

  • Promote services through direct outreach to students, class visits, promotional events, etc.

  • Support day-to-day operations of the Tutoring Center.

  • Help manage Tutoring Center social media and website.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and/or the Google suite of products (Docs, Sheets, and Gmail).

  • Ability to engage with employees and build community.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve.

  • Dependable and adaptable.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree desirable.

  • Experience supervising staff or student employees desirable.

  • Experience working in a college or university Tutoring Center desirable.

  • Familiarity with learning theory, tutoring best practices, and student success initiatives desirable.

This position is contingent on funding.
