Overview:
Washington Savings Bank is seeking a relationship-driven and detail-oriented Trust Officer/Wealth Advisor to join our Wealth Management and Trust Department. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, overseeing the administration of fiduciary accounts while delivering high-quality wealth management solutions.
This position will be responsible for managing trust relationships, interpreting governing documents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and identifying opportunities to grow assets under management.
Our Wealth Management and Trust Department offers comprehensive services, including personal trust administration, estate planning support, investment management, retirement planning, and fiduciary services for profit-sharing and 401(k) programs.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the administration of trust, estate, and fiduciary accounts in accordance with governing documents, applicable laws, bank policies, and fiduciary standards.
- Act in the best interests of clients and beneficiaries, demonstrating sound judgment and a strong fiduciary commitment.
- Interpret and analyze trust agreements and estate documents to ensure proper account management and execution.
- Oversee asset management, including the evaluation, protection, transfer, and disposition of trust assets (including business interests, real estate, and other holdings).
- Execute distributions, payments, and disbursements accurately and promptly, considering tax implications and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Coordinate tax-related documentation and support preparation efforts with internal and external partners.
- Maintain regular communication with interested parties, including clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, CPAs, and other stakeholders in order to address inquiries and resolve concerns proactively.
- Represent the bank in court proceedings, audits, or other legal matters as necessary.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the Wealth Management and Trust portfolio.
- Collaborate with internal partners to promote services and deliver a consistent message to prospective clients.
- Assist with internal audits and regulatory examinations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in trust administration, estate planning, or wealth management, preferably within a financial institution or trust company.
- Professional designations such as CTFA, CFP®, or CFA are preferred.
- Strong understanding of fiduciary principles, trust operations, and applicable regulations.
- Experience with trust accounting software is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-first approach.
- High ethical standards and sound professional judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
This position may involve occasional travel to our corporate office to meet with clients.
