Job Title: Triage Pharmacy Technician
Job Description

The Triage Pharmacy Technician supports safe and efficient prescription processing by performing general pharmacy technician duties, including filling prescriptions, reviewing health insurance and prescription orders, and assisting patients in person and over the phone. This role requires strong customer service, accurate data entry, and effective use of electronic pharmacy systems to ensure patients receive timely and accurate medications.

Responsibilities

  • Fill prescriptions accurately and in accordance with pharmacy procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Review prescription orders and health insurance information to ensure completeness and accuracy before processing.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries in person, over the phone, and through computer systems.
  • Process STAT orders with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail to support timely medication delivery.
  • Verify that all required information is complete on each prescription prior to data entry and dispensing.
  • Communicate with facilities to alert them to any issues or discrepancies identified during the data entry process.
  • Update patient profiles with all necessary information from prescriptions, ensuring allergies, therapies, and current medications are accurate and current.
  • Assist with locating lost or missed orders when requested, using troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Answer inbound phone calls from facilities and provide clear, professional support and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy team members to maintain an organized, efficient, and patient-focused workflow.
  • Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable regulations to support patient safety and quality of care.
Essential Skills
  • Pharmacy Technician with 2 plus years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Demonstrated experience performing general pharmacy technician duties, including filling prescriptions and processing orders.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and facility staff.
  • Proficiency with electronic pharmacy programs and related computer systems.
  • Experience supporting customers over the phone, including handling inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues related to orders, prescriptions, and patient profiles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-minded approach to daily tasks.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, prescription verification, and patient profile updates.
  • Ability to manage STAT orders and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Pharmacy technician certification (preferred or as indicated by prior experience).
  • Experience providing pharmacy technician customer service in a community or similar pharmacy environment.
  • Comfort working with multiple business lines and adapting to different types of pharmacy services.
  • Motivation to grow within the organization, with interest in advancement opportunities based on performance.
Work Environment

This is an on-site position and is not remote. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with one Saturday per month from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role operates in a community-focused pharmacy environment that serves the local area through multiple business lines. Team members use electronic pharmacy programs and computer systems throughout the day to manage prescriptions, patient profiles, and communication with facilities. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Green Bay, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.50/hr.
