Trade Compliance Coordinator (contractor)

Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company is seeking a Trade Compliance Assistant to the Director of Supply Chain for a 3+ month contract to support active workstreams across import/export operations, classification, and compliance program build-out.

*Company is open to candidates earlier in their trade compliance careers or transitioning from adjacent fields (logistics, customs operations, supply chain, regulatory compliance) who bring strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn.

This is a hands-on role with significant on-the-job training and direct mentorship from the US Supply Chain Director. The contractor will work alongside their team and partner with the OneSource (Thomson Reuters) implementation team on in-flight initiatives.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • Denied Party Screening: Support the ongoing DPS implementation alongside their vendor team. Assist with building an internal audit program to validate screening coverage and recordkeeping. Training provided.
  • Duty Drawback: Help identify drawback opportunities across company's import/export activity, support claim development, and document the supporting recordkeeping framework. Training provided.
  • Trade Compliance Program: Assist in structuring and documenting company's overall trade compliance program — written policies, SOPs, roles and responsibilities, and audit cadence.
  • Tariff and Duty Impact Analysis: Support the assessment of tariff policy changes (e.g., Section 232 pharmaceutical, country-specific actions) on company's portfolio. Help prepare written summaries to support business decisions.
  • HTS Product Classification: Support the completion and validation of Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications for product data being loaded into the SAP HANA environment. Training and reference materials provided.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, logistics, supply chain, or a related regulatory function. Will consider candidates with less direct experience who bring strong adjacent skills.
  • Bachelor's degree, OR equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organized approach to documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills — capable of producing clear SOPs, summaries, and audit notes with guidance.
  • Comfort working with structured data and spreadsheets (Excel intermediate level).
  • Self-starter who can manage tasks across multiple workstreams and ask the right questions when something is unclear.

Helpful But Not Required

  • Exposure to HTS classification, duty drawback, or denied party screening concepts (formal training is acceptable in lieu of work experience).
  • Coursework or credentials toward Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
  • Pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated industry exposure.
  • Familiarity with SAP (any version) or other ERP systems.
  • Exposure to trade compliance technology platforms (e.g., OneSource, Descartes, Integration Point) — even at user level.

What our client provides

  • Direct mentorship and training from the Director, Supply Chain.
  • Exposure to a full US trade compliance program build during an active ERP implementation — a strong learning opportunity for someone building a career in this space.
  • Defined scope of work with measurable deliverables.

Engagement Details

  • Duration: 3 months, with potential extension based on workstream progress and fit.
  • Location: Bethlehem, PA – hybrid or on-site arrangement to be discussed.
