Insight Global is seeking a Thermal Test Engineer to join our team in Lake Forest, CA. This is a unique opportunity for an engineer with strong hands-on thermal testing expertise to contribute across multiple engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will primarily support thermal characterization and validation of electronic systems, with a strong emphasis on thermocouple-based temperature measurement, data acquisition, and test execution. This individual will perform a wide range of thermal and thermo-mechanical testing activities related to electronic systems including semiconductors, photonics, and embedded devices. Responsibilities include testing new and modified designs, developing and executing thermal test plans, supporting engineering prototypes, and assisting with field and customer-related thermal issues.


Pay: $45- $50/hour. Offers comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision plans, and 401(K). 12 month contract with potential extensions and conversion. Will be onsite M-F in Lake Forest, CA.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product design and systems engineering teams to define thermal test requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria.

• Instrument systems using thermocouples, RTDs, and other temperature sensors; determine proper sensor placement and attachment methods to ensure accurate thermal measurements.

• Develop and execute thermal test plans, procedures, and test cases for system-level and component-level validation.

• Perform thermal and mechanical testing in laboratory environments and at customer sites, including steady-state, transient, and environmental testing.

• Conduct thermal and thermo-mechanical analysis to correlate test data with system performance and design expectations.

• Utilize data acquisition systems to collect, analyze, and interpret temperature data from thermocouples and other sensors.

• Troubleshoot thermal test setups, instrumentation issues, and anomalous data; refine test methods to improve accuracy and repeatability.

• Document and present test results, including test configurations, instrumentation diagrams, data analysis, and conclusions, to senior technical staff and during internal and customer design reviews.

• Support integration testing, system qualification, and validation activities.

• Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and technical support teams to support component selection and establish thermal performance specifications.

• Provide hands-on support during prototype builds, system assembly, installation, and commissioning, including guidance to field service engineers.

• Assist with field issue investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action related to thermal performance.

• Identify thermal risk areas, mitigation strategies, and system optimization opportunities.

• Recommend and implement improvements to thermal test methods, tools, fixtures, and processes.
