About the Role
Trulli Audio produces cutting-edge audio products such as portable speakers and subwoofers utilizing patented technology. We design, develop, and manufacture our loudspeakers and electronics near Chicago, IL, USA.
We are seeking a Test Development Engineer to develop and support automated test solutions and processes for our audio components and products, ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and performance. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Development Engineering and Manufacturing teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept through product launch and into ongoing production support as demand grows. Responsibilities
- Actively participate in design reviews and risk assessments, and lead Design for Test (DFT) efforts to improve product testability
- Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria
- Design, develop, and specify custom test fixtures, specialized equipment, and instrumentation setups to support scalable automated hardware/software test systems
- Collaborate with design engineers on prototype and product qualification testing during product development
- Manage and support internal and contract manufacturer production test systems
- Drive continuous improvement in test effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability
- Analyze test data, identify trends, and lead root cause analysis and failure investigations
- Develop and maintain clear, well-structured documentation for test processes, systems, and calibration/maintenance schedules
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with automated test system development, and supporting both development and production testing environments
- Understanding of electronic hardware/embedded systems
- Experience with debugging and troubleshooting hardware and software systems
- Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium)
- Experience with audio electronics, transducers, acoustics, and associated test/validation a plus
- Strong programming skills in Python, Visual Basic, and/or C/C++ and experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Experience working with SQL databases and data visualization/reporting tools for test data storage, querying, and analysis
- Experience working with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.)
- Experience working with third party test system providers and contract manufacturers to create and implement turnkey solutions a plus
- Experience with other engineering and collaboration tools a plus (e.g., Jira, Git, SolidWorks)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in automated test development, product validation, or related engineering roles

Salary Range
$100,000 - $125,000 per year
Work Location
This position is primarily onsite in Mundelein, IL due to hands-on development and manufacturing support responsibilities.
