Department Summary

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems division for a Technical Analyst - System Performance and Reliability, supporting our Aero business unit.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position will is part of the technical operations team, which primarily focuses on maintaining optimal performance of the Hughes in-flight connectivity system. This position will be located at our office in Germantown, MD, Atlanta, GA, or Lisle, IL.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of reliability tools and metrics in alignment with customer requirements
  • Work closely with maintenance support groups to monitor component, system, and maintenance performance data
  • Collect and analyze information from a variety of data sources, including part replacement data, maintenance records, and system performance data, to identify failure patterns within the in-flight connectivity system
  • Utilize technical knowledge of in-flight connectivity systems and work cross-functionally with operations teams to analyze component removals and system faults
  • Analyze current processes and technical data to identify trends and contributing factors which impact performance, and recommend data-driven solutions
  • Develop recommendations to improve MCC, customer and vendor maintenance practices and procedures
  • Review component removal reports, customer removal data and maintenance logs to measure in-service performance
  • Interpret component repair reports to identify primary failure modes, trends and correlations to in-service removal logs and reports
  • Ability to understand and interpret aircraft systems manuals, technical documents and maintenance procedures, and provide change recommendations
  • Create distinct fault categories for each component and organize failures accordingly
  • Coordinate with hardware suppliers, internal teams and customers to identify and implement performance and process improvements
  • Support predictive maintenance by leveraging statistical modelling to predict and mitigate emerging failure trends
  • Work with development team to ensure accuracy and completeness of reliability metrics

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in business analytics, data mining or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in reliability, system performance, or data analysis, ideally from an aerospace or satellite communications provider

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Airline operations exposure in a technical environment (Maintenance / Engineering)
  • Practical experience with reliability methodologies including MTBF, MTBUR, NFF, root cause analysis, distributions, and pareto charts
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and query technical data from multiple sources
  • Experience with databases and data entry tools, including MS Excel, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Smartsheet
  • Strong critical thinking skills and results-oriented
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams, vendors and customers to achieve required support data and implement solutions
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $67,000.00/Year - $84,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
