WSP is seeking an experienced Team Leader – Project Controls to lead and enhance project controls capability within the Transportation & Infrastructure PMO. The role is responsible for driving project governance excellence across cost, schedule, reporting, earned value, and PMO controls frameworks. The position reports directly to the Head of Department, operating as a key leadership role supporting strategic delivery and operational efficiency.

This role requires a seasoned professional with significant experience in project controls, large‑scale team leadership, and the ability to standardize and optimize PMO processes across a global delivery model.

 

  1. Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a large project controls team (approx. 50+ staff) to ensure high performance, engagement, and capability uplift.

  • Conduct regular team reviews, skills development planning, and succession planning aligned with PMO needs.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the PMO delivery environment

 

  1. Project Controls Governance
  • Oversee planning, scheduling, cost management, earned value analysis, risk tracking, and change management activities across major transportation and infrastructure programs.

  • Ensure alignment with WSP’s Business Management System, governance frameworks, and standardized PMO processes.

  • Establish and monitor integrated project baselines, WBS structures, forecast models, and performance metrics.

  • Guide & mentor the Senior/Consultant/Assistant project controllers

 

  1. Operational Excellence
  • Streamline and optimize project controls workflows, templates, dashboards, and reporting cycles for consistency and efficiency across the PMO.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks and lead improvement initiatives using data‑driven insights.

  • Support deployment and maturity of digital project controls tools (Power BI, PMIS, automation workflows).

 

  1. Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Head, Team Leader – Operations, Project Managers, Finance, and Delivery leaders to ensure alignment across cost, schedule, and project performance.

  • Support issue escalation, variance analysis, and governance reviews with senior leadership.

  • Interface regularly with UK delivery teams to maintain harmonized methodologies.
