The student selected for this position supports the creation of high-quality content and strategic communications that align with the Planet Blue Ambassador Program's mission. The Sustainability Communications & Engagement Intern will create educational and promotional communications content, advertise events, and increase participation in the Planet Blue Ambassador program. This position reports to the Assistant Sustainability Programs Manager and will be mentored by the Student Sustainability Communications & Engagement Coordinator. The selected candidate is expected to be reliable, enthusiastic about environmental stewardship and social impact, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. The position requires a 10-hour-per-week commitment from May to August 2026, with room for time off for vacations and the potential for extension and increased hours after August. Responsibilities: - Plan and execute all promotional needs for PBA-sponsored events, including creating flyer designs, writing event descriptions, posting on student engagement platforms, and sending regular campus-wide emails. - Copywriting for our monthly Campus Sustainability Newsletter. - Write content for our monthly Campus Sustainability Newsletter. - Co-create an Instagram Engagement Strategy. - Plan and deploy Instagram content for our Sustainability at UM-Dearborn (@planetbluedearborn) account. - Assist the Student Sustainability Communications & Engagement Coordinator in tracking and evaluating communications and engagement metrics. - Support zero waste events as needed, including sorting recyclables, compostables, and waste. - Help with our garden plots and compost system as necessary.
