At Vincentian, a faith-based nonprofit committed to serving our community, we’re looking for our next great teammate to join our HR team as a Supervisor of Human Resources. This role will oversee our HR Generalists and the full scope of their work, while also overseeing our recruiting function and supporting our recruiter. You’ll be stepping into an established, highly collaborative team that works well together and takes pride in what we do every day.
This is a hybrid position, with an expectation of being on-site typically one day per week, so candidates should be within a reasonable driving distance. The candidate should be willing to flex their time to come in more frequently during special times of year or to assist their direct reports as needed. Summary:
The Supervisor of People Operations and Engagement leads the development and execution of engagement initiatives, serves as the on-campus champion for employee experience, and helps build a strong, people-centered culture. The primary focus is on talent retention, relationship-building, proactive problem-solving, and supervising and mentoring People Operations and Engagement Specialists and Lead Talent Specialist. This position designs and delivers meaningful programs that reinforce the value of each employee and support a culture rooted in compassion and excellence.
While maintaining core HR generalist responsibilities, this role emphasizes a proactive, engagement-driven approach—reducing reactive employee relations issues by strengthening the overall employee experience. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting team members, guiding specialists and driving initiatives that help attract and retain a diverse, high-performing workforce. This work directly supports the organization’s nonprofit mission and the communities it serves.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:
Employee Engagement Responsibilities
- Lead and execute end-to-end employee engagement initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience and culture on campus.
- Support efforts to attract, develop, and retain a diverse, high-quality workforce.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for engagement, recognition, and communication programs; oversee events, committees, and logistics to ensure successful execution.
- Continuously evaluate and improve engagement programs to enhance effectiveness and employee experience.
- Lead employee recognition programs and ensure consistency and fairness across departments, shifts, and roles.
- Oversee the People Operations and Engagement Specialists as they develop a program to deliver a consistent and welcoming onboarding experience for new hires.
- Train and coach managers on onboarding, retention strategies, and compliance requirements; conduct audits to ensure adherence.
- Collaborate across the organization as a strategic partner and internal consultant on employee engagement initiatives.
People Operations Responsibilities
- Oversee employee relations for assigned campus(es), applying HR best practices, policies, and employment laws with sound judgment.
- Serve as a trusted and confidential resource for employees.
- Lead key People Operations processes (performance management, compliance, training) and maintain HR systems, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Conduct investigations into employee concerns and potential risks.
- Coach managers on employee relations issues, policies, and procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to People Operations & Engagement Specialists to ensure consistency across the organization.
- Coordinate core HR functions, including FMLA, workers’ compensation, performance evaluations, and employee relations.
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records; conduct regular audits.
- Support compliance and ethics programs by reporting concerns or violations promptly.
- Supervise People Operations & Engagement Specialists and Lead Talent Specialist and and ensure adherence to policies and standards.
- Partner with leadership on employee coaching, discipline, and performance management.
- Support performance review processes by providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Lead department onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching for employees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university in a related field (Human Resources, Business, etc.) is required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a comparable Human Resources or services related role.
- Minimum of 3 years employee relations specific experience.
- Keen attention to detail required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required. Experience with UKG preferred.
