Stoneleigh-Burnham School, an independent girls’ boarding and day school for grades 7-12, seeks a Summer Camp Residential Counselor for our 2026 summer programs. Our summer programs serve campers ages 8 to 18 for 6 weeks, from June 21, 2026 to July 31, 2026.

Located in the Pioneer Valley, a short drive from the Five College Consortium (UMass/Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire and Amherst College), Stoneleigh-Burnham School is the only girls’ school in New England to offer the IB Diploma Programme and attracts students from the local area and around the world. Duties and Responsibilities:

● Act as an integral member of the residential summer camp program team

● Housing and meals are included - Living on campus is required for the duration of the summer program

● Assist and participate in the following tasks: supervision of campers, administering behavior protocol as directed, administering all medical protocol as directed, verbal and physical assistance, and completes all other tasks as directed

● Assist in the care, cleanliness, and security of the facility used by campers during the program

● Monitors safety of all aspects of the program and campers, including but not limited to health protocols as set forth by Stoneleigh-Burnham School

● Communicates all pertinent issues affecting the programs to the Director of Auxiliary Programs (i.e. staff/client/parent/ transportation issues and concerns, etc.), in a timely manner

● Participate in all required trainings and certifications in compliance with the organization’s standards

● Communicate clearly, honestly and respectfully with staff, campers, parents and volunteers

● Create a nurturing, positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures amongst staff, volunteers and community

● Facilitate/participate in afternoon/evening activities for evening and residential campers

Qualities and Qualifications:

● High School diploma required with a college degree a bonus

● First Aid and CPR certification (will train if necessary)

● Counselors aged 25 and older must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

● Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills

● Demonstrated ability to connect with and make a positive impact on young people

● Demonstrated experience in residential activity planning and management

● Experience working at summer camps preferred but not required

● Experience in and demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion work that supports a diverse community

● The desire to work in a boarding school community and be invested in campus life
