Student Assistant, Admissions, Summer Scholars Program

The Office of Admissions seeks responsible and engaged Student Assistants to support the Summer Scholars Program, a residential academic experience for high school students. This role functions similarly to a camp counselor or residential advisor (RA), providing supervision, mentorship, and logistical support to ensure a safe, structured, and positive experience for all participants. Student Assistant will play a key role in fostering community, upholding program expectations, and serving as a primary point of contact for student needs throughout the program.
  • Serve as a residential advisor (RA) for program participants, building rapport and fostering a welcoming environment
  • Supervise students in residential spaces, including enforcing curfew and ensuring students are in assigned rooms at designated times
  • Conduct nightly room checks and assist with securing residence halls as needed
  • Chaperone and actively monitor students during scheduled daytime and evening activities, including on-campus and waterfront programming
  • Support student engagement by encouraging participation and facilitating informal community-building interactions
  • Respond to student concerns and escalate issues to professional staff when appropriate
  • Assist with program logistics, including check-in/check-out, transitions between activities, and general coordination
  • Maintain accurate attendance and incident documentation as required
  • Uphold all institutional policies and ensure student compliance with program guidelines
  • Depending on your placement, you may also be asked to serve as a Teaching Assistant for one of the academic camps. These responsibilities will be assigned to you by the professor in charge of the assignment
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Current undergraduate student in good academic standing or a recently graduated alum
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a supervisory role
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Must be available for the full duration of the Summer Scholars Program (Sunday, June 21 – Friday, June 26)
    Includes primarily evening and overnight responsibilities, but occasional daytime responsibilities will be required. On-call responsibilities may be required.
