Montgomery County Parks, Enterprise Division, is currently seeking dynamic, energetic, and fun Camp Counselors and Senior Counselors to work with children and teens ages 6-14 years old at several different locations throughout Montgomery County.OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:
Summer Camp Counselor – (Starting at $16.75/hour)
Camp counselors are responsible for working with children and provide additional support throughout the camp sessions. Supervise daily activities of participants, enforcing rules and Youth Camp Standards. Other responsibilities could include skating, playing tennis or other team sports (based on the facility), set up and clean before and after camp days, leading or assisting with games and activities, preparing craft, activity materials and accompany campers on hikes and outside activities. Administer CPR/First Aid when required.
Qualifications: Minimum age of 18. High school diploma and at least one (1) year of experience working with youth.
Summer Camp Senior Counselor – (Starting at $17.25/hour)
Camp senior counselors are responsible for assisting the Camp Director with planning a comprehensive program or schedule for the day camp. Work with participants and provide additional support throughout the camp sessions. Supervise daily activities of participants, enforcing rules and Youth Camp Standards. Other responsibilities could include skating, playing tennis or other team sports (based on the facility), set up and clean before and after
camp days, leading or assisting with games and activities, preparing craft, activity materials and accompany campers on hikes and outside activities. Administer CPR/First Aid when required.
Qualifications: Minimum age of 18. One (1) year of college and at least one (1) year of experience working with youth or two (2) years equivalent. May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
Allselected candidates are required to attend a one-day Youth Camp Standards training session.
Allselected candidates must display excellent customer service skills. Positions require First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (training classes available). Candidates must attend in-house orientation.
These positions are seasonal (part-time) and do not include benefits. Hourly wages are based on experience and qualifications.
A complete background and Child Protective Services investigation will be completed prior to hire.
