Our team is partnering with a leading self-performing EPC contractor in the power and utility sector to hire a Project Manager specializing in substation and transmission projects. This is a full-time, direct-hire position employed by the EPC contractor, supporting large capital programs for a major regulated utility.
Overview
The Project Manager will serve as the single point of accountability for the successful delivery of high-voltage substation projects—from project development through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. This individual will coordinate multidisciplinary teams to execute complex infrastructure work safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of substation projects, including brownfield upgrades and greenfield installations.
- Manage all phases of project delivery: development, design, procurement, construction, energization, and turnover to operations.
- Oversee budgets, schedules, and resource allocation; proactively identify variances and implement corrective actions.
- Interface with internal design teams, field construction management, and external stakeholders to maintain alignment on scope, safety, and quality.
- Coordinate with transmission and distribution partners to ensure seamless integration of substation systems.
- Manage contract deliverables, cost forecasts, invoicing, and reporting requirements.
- Drive risk management, change control, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain strict compliance with environmental, safety, and utility standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of project management experience focused on substation or transmission infrastructure within an EPC, utility, or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of substation design and construction processes, scheduling tools, and cost control systems.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
