We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support capital infrastructure projects for a major electric utility in the Northeast. This role is employed by a leading self-perform power infrastructure contractor that delivers complex energy projects across transmission, distribution, and substation environments.
The Project Manager will serve as a key interface between the utility client, internal construction teams, and external stakeholders—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage utility infrastructure projects from planning through closeout
- Support transmission, distribution, and substation projects (preferred experience)
- Coordinate schedules, budgets, scope, and resources across multiple stakeholders
- Act as day-to-day project liaison with utility clients and internal construction teams
- Track project costs, change orders, and progress reporting
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Support field operations and site activities as needed
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Prepare project documentation, forecasts, and executive updates
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in power, utilities, or heavy civil infrastructure
- Experience supporting or working directly with electric utilities
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week in Poughkeepsie, NY
- Proficiency with project controls, scheduling, and cost tracking tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with substation, transmission, and/or distribution projects
- Background with self-perform contractors or EPC environments
- Familiarity with utility standards, work management systems, or capital programs
