Role Overview:
Seeking a Director of Substation Engineering with a strong Protection & Control (P&C) background to lead and scale the substation engineering team. This role focuses on technical oversight, mentorship, and building a high-performing team while strengthening client relationships and driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow the Substation Engineering team, with a focus on P&C expertise
- Provide technical oversight and QA/QC for P&C design packages (4.16kV–500kV)
- Support engineers with relay protection, control systems, and design challenges
- Oversee protection schemes (line, bus, transformer) and system coordination
- Guide project execution, resource planning, and delivery
- Mentor team members and develop training programs to scale capabilities
- Partner with business development to expand client base
- Drive department strategy, growth, and profitability
- Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- 10+ years of substation experience with a strong focus on Protection & Control
- Proven ability to build, lead, and scale engineering teams
- Deep knowledge of protection systems, relay design, and industry standards (NERC, NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.)
- Experience reviewing and guiding P&C design packages
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
