The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time Step-Up Team Leader position. The Audubon/OnTrackNY Step-Up Program is a multi-disciplinary program for young adults who have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder to support their successful transition from OnTrackNY to clinic services. The Step-Up Program is based at the Audubon Clinic, part of the Washington Heights Community Service within NYSPI/ Columbia Department of Psychiatry, a premier clinical and academic center. The program supports young adults in pursuing their recovery as they transition from specialty early psychosis services and provides mental health care, case management, peer support, and education/employment support.

The Team Leader role is a half-time, on-site position and is responsible for program development and oversight, supporting integration with the OTNY team and Audubon clinic, supervising staff, and overseeing program evaluation. The approach to care is hopeful, recovery-oriented, collaborative and engaging to young people. The Step-Up Team Leader will report to the Director of the Young Adult Program at the Audubon Clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fostering and modeling principles that underlie the model: recovery, shared decision making, person centered, cultural humility
  • Overseeing program functioning: facilitating team meetings, ensuring collaboration and communication among staff, supervising the supported education and employment specialist and peer specialist, and being responsible for allocation of staff time
  • Monitoring careload size, coordinating referrals from OTNY to the Step-Up Program and coordinating transitions from Step Up
  • Serving as the Primary Clinician for a subset of program participants: conducting assessments; developing and implementing assessment-based treatment plans; assessing risk and engaging in safety planning; and providing individual therapy, care management and family services
  • Co-facilitating groups
  • Ensuring timely documentation of all services provided
  • Completing required data reporting for program evaluation and utilizing data to support quality improvement
  • Completing other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed Masters or Ph.D. in an appropriate field (social work, psychology, mental health counseling or similar)
  • At least (1) year of supervisory experience in a mental health setting.
  • At least (1) year of experience working in a specialized early psychosis program may substitute for supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training and (1) year of experience working with young adults with serious mental illness.
  • At least (1) year of experience in community-based mental health services.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English)
