COO Technology is seeking an experienced Sr. Application Developer with experience in Base SAS, SAS Macros, SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix Shell Scripting. The role is within COO Technology group focusing on supporting Compliance related Applications. The successful individual should be familiar with transactional database design, database experience with Oracle and Teradata and have significant experience with Base SAS, SAS Macros, worked with XML extensively and has a strong Unix knowledge. The successful individual will also have knowledge of the SAS Architecture and configuration of SAS and be able to identify issues related to SAS Configuration. The role may support one or multiple projects as needed based on demands.
This role is a Senior Technical Lead role within the Community Banking Branch Supervisions team that:
Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for complex computer applications and/or application initiatives. Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. Plans, performs, and acts as the escalation point for complex platform designs, coding, and testing. Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.
Leadership
- Provide oversight and progress on modernization efforts for applications throughout their transformation
- Champion continuous improvements in the organization.
- Collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members and partners
- Communicate and develop good working relationships with multiple Wells Fargo technology partners and peer mainframe group managers, architecture teams, as well as with senior management.
Application Design
- Participates in application design by providing feedback and guidance on available technology options to business problems specific to sanctions screening.
- Provides high-level estimates for different alternative designs to help guide functional design.
Architecture / High Level Design
- Analyzes complex business requirements, designs and writes architecture and technical specifications to design computer applications.
- Leads application detail design, providing guidance and consultation to other members of the development team.
- Analyzes requirements specific to the technical needs of the highly available, high volume, realtime transactional processing system.
Construction
- Develops highly complex original code.
- Provides technical assistance to less experienced staff.
- Verifies program logic by: Reviewing detailed design prepared by other members of the technical staff and Participating in code walk-throughs.
Deployment
- Ensure any modified or new components are well-documented so that the deployment team can deploy efficiently.
- Other requirements
- Participates in process refinement for the entire software development life cycle.
- Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met.

- Provides coding direction to less experienced staff or develops highly complex original code.
- Will learn the application and be an SME for the application and also an expert technical resource and be able to think out of the box to provide better solutions to the business.
- Verifies program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs.
- Oversees overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production.
- Develops new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides.
- Leads projects and deliverables and manages the work of less experienced staff.
- Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan.
- Learn the Wells Fargo Standards and follow them.
- Be on-call for Production support.

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- A BS/BA degree or higher
- 10+ years of SAS programming experience
- 3+ years of experience with SAS Base and SAS macros in a Linux/UNIX environment
- 5+ years of Oracle experience
- 5+ years of Teradata experience
- 5+ years of job scheduling experience
- 5+ years of experience in a technology leadership role
Desired Qualifications
- An industry-standard technology certification
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- 7+ years of Linux experience
- 4+ years of experience with source coding in one or a combination of the following: GitHub, SVN(Subversion), TFVC (Team Foundation Version Control) or TFSGit (Team Foundation Server)
- Analytics experience
- Knowledge and understanding of technology testing: strategies, test plans, test cases ,and test scripts development
- Financial services industry experience
- Application production support experience
Other Desired Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in leading small to large size projects of moderate complexity
- Proven ability to lead and develop technical system requirements working with end users and subject matter experts
- 3+ years of Autosys experience
- 5+ years working within an application development environment
- 5+ years of experience leading small to large implementations which covers multiple lines of business
- 5+ years of experience in effectively conducting project meetings, presentations, status reporting
- 3+ years of process improvement and re-design experience
- Problem management experience
- 5+ year experience supporting SAS Applications
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement metrics reporting
- Demonstrated ability in working under strict time constraints, and adapting to changing environments
- Proficiency in build and deployment process of applications involving multi tier blocks and interfaces.
- Proficiency in working with systems required to effectively process large volumes of both real-time and batch transactions.
- Experience in 24 X 7 production support of critical and high availability systems.
