Job Title: Paralegal (Claim Specialist)
Location: Washington, DC 20002 (hybrid - 1-2 days per week onsite)
Duration: 2-month contract with 1 year renewal (through end of May 2027)

Job Description:
Education: Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study, or four (4) years of legal training or experience may be substituted

At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required; trial experience very helpful. At least one year of experience in automated litigation support. Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor. Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, often develops these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines. In addition to functions performed by Paralegals, described below, performs moderately complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and, for example, identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence. Contact mostly with other Contractor staff, but occasional contact with trial staff may be required.
• Assists in claim review production reports. Enters the data using established guidelines into spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Word, etc. Provides the information in a concise, usable format.
• Identifies differences over time in production data set reports and highlights individual or overall trends. Submits reports to Supervisory Attorney Advisors (“Supervisors”).
• Assists Supervisors with data entry projects as assigned.
• Assists Supervisors with the data entry into SharePoint or other tracking systems as needed.
• Assists Supervisors by cross-checking data to ensure report information is accurate.
• Generates pipeline claims reports for Supervisors to help identify gaps and outliers in the report.
• Aggregates reports from other teams and prepares reports for Supervisors as needed.
• Assists Supervisors in claim assignments as needed.
• Assists Supervisors in queue management of claim reviewer queues as needed.
• Assists Supervisors with team-wide calendaring of meetings, training, and discussions.
• Assists Supervisors with preparation of various materials, including but not limited to meetings, presentations, notes, and posting to SharePoint or other collaboration sites.
• Helps track progress of special projects or assignments. Provides report updates to Supervisors.
