Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and work papers, bank reconciliations, monthly reporting, and annual budgets for assigned properties. Training staff level accountants and overseeing daily accounting functions of East Coast/West Coast portfolio. Assisting Controller with financial review of assigned portfolio. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment to meet time sensitive deadlines.
Responsibilities
1. Participate in month-end close activities including the preparation and review of journal entries and financial statements and reports. 2. Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled and supporting documentation is attached.3. Prepare schedules for quarterly reviews and year-end audit for independent external auditors. Research issues, clarify information, and prepare supporting data.4. Provide training for and supervision of the staff level accountants.5. Prepare annual budgets.6. Maintain cash management property portfolio.7. Coordinate with Accounts Payable team for invoicing and weekly check runs.8. Maintain communication with Community Managers, Facilities Managers, Senior Vice President, and Vice Presidents regarding all financial reporting functions.9. Monitor procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with TMO and MMS polices.10. Complete special projects as assigned, including preparing and analyzing financial information to determine break even points for budget purposes; unclaimed liability reporting; providing analysis and response to client inquiries.
Qualifications
Required Experience:-3 or more years General Ledger Accounting experience required.-Experience with RealPage or Yardi accounting software highly preferre
Required Education/Training:-Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
1. Proficient with Excel and complicated spreadsheet formulas.2. Higher attention to detail.3. Must be able to work as part of a team, as well as complete assignments independently.4. Requires the ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents.5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong analytical skills.6. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to clients.7. Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions while adhering to TMO and MMS policies and procedures.8. Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.9. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.10. Interact with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors in a professional and pleasant manner.
