DESCRIPTION:
The ideal candidate will have a strong SQL background to support core database administration focused on SQL databases. He/ she should be able to lead the customer call and provide design level support to the customers in scope and share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members. He/ she is required to manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems as well as to configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide L3+ support for core database administration focused on SQL databases.
- Responsible for delivering the DBA services to the customer.
- Interact with clients over calls and provide details and reasoning of the deliverables.
- Accountable to lead the customer call and provide design level support to the client.
- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
- Provide escalated technical support for complex technical issues which may include leading problem management cases and providing management status.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide on-call support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
- Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using a major scripting language and experience with software deployment.
- Knowledge of network architecture and protocols.
- Senior IT Engineer, with 7+ years on SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2025, including SQL on Azure, AWS.
- Lead a team of L2 and L3 DBA"s.
- Responsible for delivering the DBA services to the customer.
- Interacting with client over calls and provide details and reasoning of the deliverables.
- Should groom the junior resources of the team to enhance their skills.
- Experience in administration of other database services like SSAS, SSIS and SSRS.
- Experience in installing different SQL server versions as per customer requirements.
- Experience in upgrading and migrating databases from lower to higher versions.
- Experience in applying latest patches (SPCUGDRHotfixes) to fix vulnerabilities and strong troubleshooting skills on resolving patching issues.
- Knowledge of windows cluster will be plus and Experience in MSSQL cluster environments (Active-Active or Active-Passive)
- Supported SQL Server on LinuxWindows both migrations and on-going support.
- Experience in handling HADR environments (Log Shipping, ReplicationCDC, Mirroring and AOAG)
- Skilled in Backups & Disaster Recovery.
- Knowledge on Backup tools - ex: Rubrik, Veeam, Commvault, Semantic NetBackup will be plus.
- Strong experience in Automating DB tasks, health checks, blocking, disk space, Maintenance tasks etc.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks etc.)
- Experience in PowerShell scripting automation will be plus.
- Experience in implementing operational automation.
- Be available for on-call support as needed.
- Working knowledge in T-SQL, BCP, DTS and SSIS development.
- Any cloud Architecture certification is preferable.
- Knowledge and Hands-on expertise on Oracle, PostgreSQL, My SQL and Mongo DB would be additional value addition.
- Multi-customer work experience and managed service format.
- Azure data fundamentals related certification and/or MySQL/ EDB PostgreSQL database certifications is a plus.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema optimization. Also capable of writing new queries, correcting and enhancing existing queries and views, and improving overall database performance.
