Software Engineer (Hybrid — Mayfield Heights, OH)

We’re working with a global Client in the industrial automation space that’s building the systems behind real-world manufacturing. This team sits at the intersection of software, hardware, and production — if you enjoy solving problems that actually impact how products get built, this is worth a look.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build and improve manufacturing test systems used in live production environments
  • Work across software and hardware to troubleshoot and fix real-world issues
  • Enhance and maintain existing platforms (this is not a greenfield-only role)
  • Support production teams when systems go down (Tier 2 support)
  • Help simplify and standardize test platforms across products
  • Tackle challenges around technical debt, data, and system reliability
  • Collaborate with global teams in an Agile (SAFe) setup
  • Use CI/CD practices to improve delivery and code quality

What They’re Looking For

  • Strong programming experience in C#, C++, or Python
  • Solid understanding of hardware + software interaction
  • Experience with Windows-based development
  • Comfortable troubleshooting integrated systems (not just writing code)
  • Experience with Git / version control
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps concepts
  • Background working on high-reliability or safety-critical systems

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Experience with hardware communication protocols (I2C, SPI, CIP)
  • Exposure to PLC programming
  • Familiarity with test environments like TestStand
  • Experience with tools like Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of electronic or mechanical systems

What Makes This Role Different

This isn’t a typical software role. You’ll be working on systems that directly impact production — which means:

  • Your work has immediate, visible impact
  • You’ll solve real engineering problems, not just tickets
  • You’ll get exposure to both code and physical systems

Location

Hybrid — Mayfield Heights & Twinsburg, OH

(Local candidates only — this role requires onsite work)

If you’re someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving and wants to work closer to real-world systems, this is a strong opportunity to step into something more impactful than a typical dev role.
