As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

 

  • Designs, develops, and deploys modern, responsive web applications using React and TypeScript, ensuring exceptional user experience, performance, and accessibility
  • Architects and implements scalable front-end solutions with a focus on component-driven development, state management, and reusable UI libraries
  • Creates secure, high-quality production code following best practices for React design patterns, including hooks, context API, and modern rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, CSR)
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex front-end applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints, performance benchmarks, and accessibility standards are met
  • Collaborates closely with UX/UI designers and back-end engineers to translate designs into pixel-perfect, interactive interfaces and integrate RESTful/GraphQL APIs
  • Proactively identifies performance bottlenecks, hidden problems, and patterns in application metrics, using these insights to drive improvements to front-end architecture and code quality
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies, including modern front-end frameworks and AI-assisted tooling

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on experience with React including functional components, hooks, context API, and modern React patterns
  • Proficiency in TypeScript with a solid understanding of type systems, generics, interfaces, and advanced typing patterns
  • Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, Recoil, or React Query
  • Solid understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), including async/await, destructuring, modules, and functional programming concepts
  • Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling approaches including CSS-in-JS (Styled Components, Emotion), Sass/SCSS, or Tailwind CSS
  • Experience with front-end build tools and bundlers such as Webpack, Vite, or esbuild
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks including Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress or Playwright for end-to-end testing
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and code review best practices
  • Experience with RESTful API and/or GraphQL integration in front-end applications


     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar coding assistants to accelerate development workflows
  • Familiarity with AI agents and LLM integration for building intelligent UI features or automating development tasks
  • Exposure to AWS services relevant to front-end deployment and hosting (CloudFront, S3, Amplify, Route 53)
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries (Material UI, Chakra UI, Ant Design) or experience building custom design systems
  • Knowledge of micro-frontend architecture patterns and module federation and data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, Recharts)
  • Experience with performance optimization techniques including code splitting, lazy loading, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals optimization
  • Experience with Understanding of back-end technologies (Node.js, Java/Spring Boot) and how front-end applications interact with APIs
