The Financial Accounting Control System (FACS) application supports multiple lines of business, primarily Wholesale banking, for their daily Profit and Loss and regulatory reporting needs.  The FACS platform uses MS SQL Server 2016 and SQL Server BI components.  The successful candidate must be client focused as a senior developer that will require the interpretation and analysis of the business requirements to assist with the design, development and delivery of a technology solution that meets the needs of the end users while maintaining compliance with Wells Fargo change management processes and procedures.  The developer will also have support duties for Level 3 or break/fix support.  After hours support may be required as needed.  

FACS application is in a hybrid transition state to big data.  Ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in MS SQL Server data warehouse development and experience in big data solutions, i.e. Hadoop ecosystem, Apache Spark, Python/Scala.  Candidate must have pride in their own work, attention to detail, and strive to deliver a quality solution with minimal defects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as lead change management/release coordinator for FACS and ensure entire application team is compliant with the Enterprise's SDLC policies and procedures.
  • Act as lead facilitator regarding all of FACS Technology Compliance obligations and execution of policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. 
  • Identify gaps in controls, policies or procedures within the application and remediate in a strategic fashion that aligns to the Enterprise's direction.
  • Analyze highly complex business requirements, design and writes technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications.   FACS developers work closely with a business team of tech savvy business analysts to implement complex accounting solutions
  • Lead projects, allocate and manage resources both onshore and offshore, and manage the work of less experienced staff
  • Ability and desire to interact with business counterparts and represent own team well. 
  • Act as a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology (MS SQL Server 2016) tools (Visual Studio) and existing designs.
  • Work with DBAs in Enterprise Database Management  group to troubleshoot problems and optimize performance
  • Provide coding direction to less experienced staff or develop highly complex original code.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Programming experience
  • 5+ years of MS SQL server experience


Desired Qualifications

  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 5+ years of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
  • 3+ years of Apache Spark design and development experience using Scala, Java, Python or Data Frames with Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDDs)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, querying, data warehousing, ETL process, requirements gathering and/or decision support tools
  • 1 + year of SQL Server SSIS, SSRS and SSAS experience
  • 1+ year of Autosys experience
  • 1+ year of UNIX experience
  • Experience designing and developing data warehouse or analytics applications using Apache Spark
  • Experience Hadoop ecosystem tools relevant for real-time and batch data ingestion, processing and provisioning using tools such as Apache Flume, Apache Kafka, Apache Sqoop, Apache Flink, Apache Hive or Apache Storm
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management and implementation in a technical environment
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCMCSD, MCAD)
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
