We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Specialist to support a midstream project in Turney, Missouri. This role will serve as the owner’s representative overseeing contractor safety performance within an active facility environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong midstream experience, sound field judgment, and the ability to build relationships while upholding high safety standards.
This position is best suited for a safety professional with a strong background in midstream facilities, pipeline work, and construction activities, with the confidence to engage contractors, identify risk, and drive safe execution in the field.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of safety experience supporting midstream facilities, pipeline, and construction work
- Strong experience working in and around active industrial or energy facilities
- Proven experience developing and reviewing JSAs / JHAs
- Experience conducting field audits, inspections, and behavioral observations
- Strong background in incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up
- Experience with safe work permitting processes, including hot work, confined space, line breaking, lockout/tagout, and other high risk activities
- Strong working knowledge of excavation and trenching
- Strong working knowledge of scaffolding
- Strong working knowledge of fall protection
- Ability to mentor, coach, and influence both supervision and craft personnel
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and maintain a visible field presence
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the owner in monitoring and supporting contractor safety performance on site
- Provide daily field oversight of construction and maintenance activities to verify compliance with project and facility safety requirements
- Review and help develop JSAs / JHAs, lift plans, and other task planning documents
- Participate in and lead site audits, inspections, and safety observations
- Support and participate in incident investigations, documentation, and corrective action tracking
- Monitor compliance with site permitting requirements and high risk work controls
- Verify contractors are following established policies related to excavation, trenching, scaffolding, fall protection, confined space, hot work, energy isolation, and line break activities
- Build strong working relationships with contractors, supervisors, and project leadership while maintaining accountability
- Coach field teams on hazard recognition, stop work authority, and safe work practices
- Attend and contribute to pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and planning sessions
- Maintain accurate safety records, observations, and field reports
- Help drive a proactive safety culture focused on planning, prevention, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving in an owner’s representative or client-facing safety role
- OSHA 30 preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to construction and midstream operations
- Experience with contractor management and oversight
- Ability to recognize when field conditions require escalation or immediate intervention
Project Details:
- Project expected to begin mid-May
- Assignment expected to run through September
- Six 10-hour shifts per week
- Must be comfortable working extended hours in an active construction and facility environment
