This is an Site Reliability Engineer Software Engineer role within Wealth & Investment Management Technology Platform Management, supporting the Brokerage Internet & Intranet Group (BIIG), a part of the Wealth Investment Management Technology division.  Brokerage Internet & Intranet Group (BIIG) is responsible for all facets of production availability, technology delivery, vendor management and line of business support for Wells Fargo Advisors’ Customer and Financial Advisor Digital Platforms. The candidate will be responsible for implementing lifecycle tech refresh and implementations for the Brokerage Internet & Intranet Group (BIIG) applications. Candidate will act individually and within a team by providing application engineering and support, system maintenance, application deployment, and design guidance and consultation utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs. Participates in systems implementation, validation and the migration of platforms and applications to production.  Develops new or maintains existing documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. Works within a team and often independently across projects, allocates and partners effectively with team resources and may coordinate task oversight of small to medium sized projects. Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan.

The Site Reliability Engineer Software Engineer in a lead technical role providing technical guidance and consultation with application teams, clients, and Engineering Managers for their technology domain environments including but not limited to cloud, middleware, operating systems, applications, Software-as-a-Service, and Platform-as-a-Service products. Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices. Provides the strategy and design for projects associated with their technology domain including, upgrades and deployments. Utilizes advanced technologies and methods to integrate their technology domain with other technology domains, enabling the creation of new or expanded heterogeneous environments. Develops new documentation and departmental technical procedures. Directs the gathering of performance statistics to assist in determining hardware and communication tools needed to support projected transaction volumes, response time and system availability targets. As an escalation point, provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff in resolution of highly complex technical problems. Leads projects and manages the work of less experienced staff. We are looking for an Site Reliability Software Engineer who enjoys and thrives on solving complex problems through innovation impacting change at scale in a diverse environment. You will join a focused team of Site Reliability Engineers introducing and advancing Site Reliability Engineers discipline across several hundred applications and multiple vertical lines of business supporting the entire firm.  The team will drive technology transformation and adoption of Site Reliability Engineers aligned enterprise capabilities and products, launch new tooling enablement, automate away complex issues and integrate with the latest technology. Site Reliability Engineers leverage their experience as software and systems engineers to ensure applications onboarded to Site Reliability Engineer are available, have full stack observability, introduce continuous improvement through code and automation, provide operational insight through analytics, continuously test, are integrated with CI/D and work with application teams to ensure products and service we provide are always on. 

The Site Reliability Engineer will work within Wells Fargo Platform Management team partnering across platform teams, development teams, product owners, scrum masters, and with other technology centers of excellence. They are responsible for engineering new solutions (automated and procedural) to improve platform and application stability, performance, staff productivity, metrics and reporting;  ensuring all availability, architecture, quality, security, support and risk/compliance standards are met.  It will include both collaborating with other teams to accomplish the solutions and in other cases creating the solution.

The Site Reliability Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and oversee the engineering of automated solutions to improve platform and application stability, performance, staff productivity, metrics and reporting. 
  • Design, build, deploy and maintain engineered solutions through collaborative efforts with team members and third party vendors.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the Enterprise to design and create effective solutions.
  • Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of incidents in mission-critical systems (on call support as necessary) and participate in preventative problem management activities.
  • Partner to influence and support innovation & continued drive towards automation, touch less operational sustainment as a design/architecture construct working with Enterprise Function technology partners/managers.
  • Operational sustainment and reduce risks in the eco-system by aggressively pursuing safety and soundness type of actions not limited to vulnerability, patching, end of life and resiliency.
  • Manage and coordinate production change requests and release management.
  • Manages continuous services improvements and drives innovation to ensure SLAs, KPIs and OLAs for the critical business processes, applications and partner interfaces.

Applicants must have production application support experience in a 24x7 environment. Capability to self-start and drive initiatives with little to no oversight, and document and engage with a globally distributed team.  This position will offer the ability for additional scaling and integration to a standardized support, deployment, and engineering teams looking for another great team member addition! Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of application production support experience
  • 3+ years of build-deploy automation and configuration experience within the Linux and Unix environment
  • 3+ years of platform engineering experience
  • 3+ years of scripting and automation experience
  • 3 + years of enterprise Splunk engineering experience
  • 5+ years of Middleware experience
  • 2+ years of ServiceNow experience

  • An industry-standard technology certification

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology

  • Knowledge and understanding of lifecycle management, including implementation, maintenance, patching, health checks, capacity planning, and decommissioning
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology installation: configuring and troubleshooting middleware on servers
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: operational support for middleware instances and applications configuration
  • Messaging Queue (MQ) experience
  • Mutual Authentication experience
