Job Description

The Shop Mechanic is responsible for the complete disassembly, repair, assembly, troubleshooting, and quality verification of complex mechanical equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, independent judgment, and a consistent commitment to safety, quality, and productivity while working on a wide range of industrial and mobile equipment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly of complex equipment, using independent judgment to ensure proper function and reliability.
  • Tear down and rebuild a variety of used industrial equipment from start to finish.
  • Learn product designs and systems through self-study, hands-on experience, and guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Assist in all aspects of the rebuild and refurbishment process, including inspection, repair, and final verification.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on mobile and industrial equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair battery-powered, air-cooled, and water-cooled combustion engines, including diesel, gas, and LP systems.
  • Safely use, maintain, and care for company tools, equipment, and property, and promptly report any issues or damage.
  • Complete assigned work in a timely manner while exercising sound judgment to meet quality, safety, and cost targets.
  • Perform in-process quality checks, document findings, and communicate results clearly to the appropriate team members.
  • Identify, document, and communicate safety concerns and potential hazards in the work area.
  • Make necessary adjustments during the build process to ensure a high-quality finished product that meets specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace through regular housekeeping and adherence to 5S practices.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and report them through established tier or escalation structures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple sub-assembly operations and short cycle-time main line stations as needed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure all company equipment assigned to you remains in good condition.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability, including having dependable transportation to and from work each day.

Work Environment

You will work in a smaller off-site building that is currently being renovated and improved, providing an evolving and increasingly modern shop environment. The team currently consists of about 11 people, with plans to grow toward approximately 20 team members, creating a close-knit yet expanding group. The role is hands-on in a mechanical shop setting, working with a variety of tools, equipment, and industrial machinery. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, supported by 5S practices and regular housekeeping. A professional appearance is expected while working in the facility.

This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
