Sheetmetal Mechanic / Machinist
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Mechanic - Machinistto join our production team. This role is central to our manufacturing process, requiring a professional who can transform raw metal sheets into high-quality architectural components. You will be responsible for the precise setup and operation of various metalworking machines, ensuring every piece meets our rigorous standards for aesthetics and structural integrity.
Entry Level Shop Helper positions also available - must have a mechanical aptitude, good math skills and attention to detail.
Equipment Setup & Operation: Primary responsibility for the independent setup and operation of Press Brakes to perform complex bends and forming operations.
Precision Cutting: Utilize industrial shears and saws to cut materials to exact specifications based on technical drawings.
Tool Room Proficiency: Operate standard shop machinery, including milling, drills, grinders, and rollers.
Material Handling: Select appropriate gauges and types of metal (aluminum, stainless steel, copper, etc.) and inspect materials for defects prior to fabrication.
Quality Control: Use calipers, protractors, and squares to verify dimensions and angles, ensuring all parts adhere to a high level of architectural precision.
Maintenance: Perform routine daily maintenance on equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Press Brake Expertise: Proven experience settingsheet metal bending equipment.
Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings.
Mathematical Proficiency: Strong grasp of shop math, including geometry and bend allowance calculations.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for the duration of a shift in a manufacturing environment.
Attention to Detail: A "measure twice, cut once" mindset with a focus on producing clean, finished architectural products.
Laser Technology: Experience operating or assisting with CNC Laser cutting machines is a significant plus.
Architectural Background: Previous experience working with decorative or high-finish metals used in building facades or interiors.
