MHW Search has exclusively partnered with a well-established retail/mixed-use investment/development firm that has properties across the country. We are seeking an SVP of Property Management to join the team. This position is based in Dallas full-time but for the right person our client is flexible on location.
Core Responsibilities
Portfolio Operations:
Oversee operational performance across an assigned portfolio, ensuring alignment with ownership objectives, third-party agreements, and brand standards. Implement and maintain efficient systems and processes across property operations, including financial management, receivables, budgeting, and capital project execution. Conduct routine site visits and maintain strong connectivity with on-site leadership and operating partners.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and develop both on-site leadership and centralized property management teams. Foster a culture centered on accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement. Act as the primary operational leader setting expectations and driving consistency across the portfolio.
Property Onboarding & Transitions:
Manage the onboarding and integration of newly acquired or third-party managed assets, including building transition plans, coordinating internal resources, and establishing strong working relationships with ownership groups and partners.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as a key operational point of contact for existing partners and prospective clients. Support business development efforts by effectively communicating the strength and capabilities of the operating platform.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Report to senior executive leadership and partner closely with teams across leasing, asset management, development, finance, and investments to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives and portfolio performance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Operational Experience:
15+ years of progressive experience in commercial property operations, with a strong emphasis on mixed-use and retail environments. Proven track record managing multi-asset portfolios and leading both field and corporate teams. Experience operating within institutional-quality platforms is strongly preferred.
Team Builder:
Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams. Leadership style emphasizes ownership, accountability, and team development.
Financial Acumen:
Strong understanding of property-level financials, including operating budgets, capital planning, and execution of asset-level business plans. Ability to operate within the expectations of sophisticated ownership groups.
Executive Presence:
Comfortable interfacing with institutional partners and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills with the ability to represent the platform in a credible and professional manner.
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree required. Industry certifications such as CPM, CSM, or similar are a plus.
