Title: Sr. Tax Analyst
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Setting: Onsite
Compensation: $70k - $90k + annual bonus + 401k matching (4% Match) + Unlimited PTO
About the Role
A rapidly growing, multi-entity organization is seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to play a key role in overseeing business license tax compliance and supporting broader indirect tax functions.
This position will lead U.S. business license compliance efforts while contributing to sales & use tax, property tax, VAT, excise tax, and other transaction-based tax activities.
This role offers a blend of technical tax exposure, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Indirect Tax Oversight
- Lead U.S. business license compliance across multiple state and local jurisdictions
- Ensure timely and accurate filings for indirect tax obligations
- Review and process customer tax exemption certificates on a regular basis
- Support monthly account reconciliations and internal/external compliance controls (including SOX)
- Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and assess potential business impact
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Operations to support compliance and risk mitigation
- Assist with indirect tax audits and inquiries from taxing authorities
Tax Technology & Process Improvement
- Support implementation and optimization of tax technology solutions (ERP systems, tax engines, automation tools)
- Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Evaluate tools and technologies to support evolving tax reporting requirements
- Maintain controls and data integrity within tax systems
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with external advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies as needed
- Communicate tax concepts and updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Team & Continuous Improvement
- Promote collaboration across finance and tax functions
- Support training and knowledge-sharing initiatives related to tax processes and systems
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field
- CPA or advanced degree preferred
- 2+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax (public accounting or corporate environment)
- Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional operations required
Technical Skills
- Exposure to tax technology platforms (e.g., Vertex, Avalara) and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred
- Experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau a plus
