Senior Tax Accountant

Percipio Business Advisors
Omaha, NE

Why This Role Exists

Percipio Business Advisors is an advisory-first firm that partners directly with founders, CEOs, and executive teams across a range of industries. Our tax practice doesn't operate in a silo — it's integrated with our Comprehensive Accounting Solutions (CAS) and M&A advisory teams, which means our tax professionals see the full picture of a client's financial life, not just a return.

The Senior Consulting Associate Tax Focused role is a client-facing role where you'll lead tax engagements and develop real advisory relationships with business owners and executive teams. Beyond your core tax work, you'll also gain hands-on CAS experience, expanding your skill set into broader accounting and advisory services.

We're looking for someone who is curious about how businesses actually work, not just how to prepare the return, but how tax strategy connects to the client's growth plan, capital structure, and operational decisions. If you want your tax expertise to have a seat at the strategy table, this is the firm.

How You Will Contribute

Tax Planning & Preparation (Primary Focus)

  • Lead preparation and review of business, individual, trust, and non-profit tax returns across a diverse client portfolio spanning multiple industries.
  • Research tax regulations and drive tax planning projects that deliver measurable value to clients, going beyond compliance to proactive advisory.
  • Advise clients on the tax implications of business decisions, including entity structuring, transaction planning, and regulatory changes.
  • Supervise consulting associates on tax assignments: instructing on methodology, reviewing work, and directing revisions to build their capabilities.
  • Coordinate with CAS and M&A teams to deliver integrated advice, ensuring tax strategy aligns with broader financial goals.

Comprehensive Accounting Solutions (CAS)

  • Support the monthly close process for select clients, gaining hands-on experience with recurring accounting operations.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card activity, post transactions using modern platforms as well as industry standards like QuickBooks Online, Ramp, and Bill.com, and prepare financial statements.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, payroll tax returns, and Forms 1096/1099.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of technology-driven automation across client engagements.

What We Look For

We hire and promote based on curiosity, end-to-end understanding of processes, domain expertise, open-mindedness, and the ability to communicate complexity clearly. These traits drive your growth here as much as technical credentials.

  • 2+ years of experience in preparation and/or review of business, individual, trust, and/or non-profit tax returns. Public accounting or CAS experience highly valued.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Candidates with an associate degree and substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
  • CPA designation or EA credential is a plus but not required. We support CPA candidates with exam time off and exam pay.
  • Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, Lacerte, ProConnect). Familiarity with modern accounting platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple client priorities and deliver quality work within tight timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mentality — you can explain complex tax concepts to non-financial audiences.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $80,000–$100,000 annually depending on experience
  • Performance Bonuses: Discretionary bonuses based on individual contribution and firm profitability
  • New Client Incentive: Earn additional compensation for bringing in new client relationships
  • 401(k) with Company Match: Eligible to participate after 3 months of service, with employer matching contributions
