We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in a unique role supporting the financial growth of multiple exciting start-up businesses within our portfolio of established operating companies and real estate assets (approximately 400M in assets under management). This opportunity creates a broad range of skills within the finance team with exposure to the following businesses (1) accelerating growth of an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Start-Up (Charge Point Operator) (2) a digital property management start-up enabling the
property management business (3) owned and operated multifamily and commercial real estate assets ( (5) Development and Construction businesses (6) Coworking operator (7) property management staffing (8) fund management.
Role
The Senior Staff Accountant supports and manages the financial health of the company and ensures that financial operations run smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, performing financial transactions, and following protocol for all procedures. You will also carry out relevant duties such as handling invoices, maintaining accounting records and files, responding to questions and requests via email or
phone.
Responsibilities
Partner with the leadership team and the various business stakeholders to develop and implement a robust financial strategy.
Responsible for timely preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. budget-to-actuals and variance analyses.
Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
Support the property accounting function through the real estate life cycle including acquisition of properties, construction in process, and the sale/disposition of properties.
Conduct financial transactions and bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, timely payment of invoices and accounts payable, establishment of accruals, and prepaid expenses.
Ensure appropriate revenue recognition and analysis of accounts receivable.
Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders (property management field team, Tech team, EV operations team, marketing, asset management, leasing, investors, lenders, auditors, etc.)
Handle timely payment of loans and observe all loan compliance requirements.
Process expenses and ensure expense reimbursement in compliance with company policies and
applicable laws.
Assist with audits and other financial reviews conducted by third-party auditors.
Assist with data analytics and various reconciliations.
Provide deliverables to investors, banks, tax preparers, and other stakeholders; prepare due diligence documents as needed for department heads and/or investors, appraisers, and bankers.
Requirement
BA in Accounting
5+ years of related work experience, preferably in multifamily property management or real estate
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting standards (i.e. GAAP)
Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and systems knowledge
Proficient in complex spreadsheet design
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear and concise reports
Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
CPA, CMA, and/or CFA certification
