Position Overview

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting of a portfolio of commercial and residential properties. This individual will play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, and driving process improvements while partnering closely with property management and leadership teams

.Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle property accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential assets
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Perform month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Analyze variances and provide insights on property performance
  • Prepare and maintain budget vs. actual reporting and assist with annual budgeting/forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Coordinate with auditors and support audit requests
  • Work cross-functionally with property management, asset management, and operations teams
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiencies

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4–7+ years of property accounting experience supporting both commercial and residential portfolios
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
  • Experience with property management/accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, data analysis, reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across departments
