What We Are Looking For:
Michael Baker International is growing its Integrated Design & Advisory (IDA) team in Dallas, TX and is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead high‑value client relationships and complex architectural and engineering programs. This role is well suited for a licensed Architect or Engineer who is comfortable owning major client engagements while guiding multidisciplinary teams through successful project delivery.
As a senior leader within our Dallas Architecture team, you’ll be accountable for overseeing important clients across multiple market sectors, serving as a trusted point of contact from pursuit through execution. You’ll lead teams of architects, engineers, and designers—often across geographies—ensuring projects are delivered with clarity, quality, and consistency. While project delivery is central, this role also allows you to deepen existing client relationships, support new work pursuits, and contribute to continued growth across private and public-sector markets, including Federal, Aviation, and Transit.
You’ll bring a steady, pragmatic approach to program and project management—setting realistic schedules, managing budgets, mitigating risk, and communicating clearly with both clients and internal leaders. Just as important, you’ll be someone clients rely on: responsive, organized, and able to anticipate challenges before they arise.
What You Will Do:
- Primarily actively engaged as Senior Project Manager for key clients in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
- Actively engage in robust, consistent communication with key existing clients/programs to determine needs, preferences, and future program opportunities.
- Create and manage near and long-term goals for programs in which the candidate is engaged. Consistent collaboration with Michael Baker National Market/Sector Leads and Operations is essential.
- Routinely assess our program strengths and identify areas for improvement. Continually monitor program risks and strive to address and mitigate.
- Coordinate throughout the IDA Vertical, leveraging the strength and diverse array of talents of our organization to effectively meet our client’s needs.
- Lead and manage programs to ensure projects are delivered with excellence and quality to Client and Michael Baker standards.
- Develop/implement project work plans/methodologies for complex projects, as applicable. Lead projects/task orders for programs in which the candidate is engaged.
- Establish and promote collective leadership presence within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Region, reporting “in-person” to a physical office approximately two (2) days per week. Client may require augmentation of up to five (5) days per week.
- This local leadership position provides oversight and direction for all our local IDA resources, as well as evolving Market Sectors; and encompasses establishing and implementing goals and objectives, developing, and promoting IDA’s values and strategic plans, and positioning for growth.
- Regularly attend local industry and client events representing the comprehensive capabilities of IDA to promote brand awareness.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design, documentation, and management of multi-disciplinary architecture/building engineering projects and staff resources beyond initial licensure.
- Strong business leadership and financial acumen.
- Specific experience with Design/Build and other alternative project delivery methods is highly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of the collaborative inter-relationships between architecture and engineering disciplines, clients, stakeholders, and constructors.
- Experience with digital delivery, including BIM, and the ability to collaborate and guide our team on implementing AI-driven, generative, and parametric tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills exhibited through the ability to articulate ideas, both verbally and in writing; personable and outgoing in work relationships, both externally and internally; highly precise, detailed, and self-organized; frank and candid during all business relationships.
- Business development experience is highly preferred, including developing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP), as well as collaboration with written and graphic marketing materials.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
- BS/BA Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Engineering; Bachelor of Architecture; or MS/MA Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent.
- Licensed Architect (RA/AIA), Professional Engineer (PE), or professional equivalent.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials preferred.
- LEED Accredited Professional (AP), or equivalent, preferred.
- Travel (15%) is anticipated based on program/project responsibilities.
Compensation
The approximate compensation range for this position $136,000- $200,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
