Senior Network or Systems Engineer with deep virtualization and infrastructure experience to design, implement, and support reliable environments for SMB and healthcare clients. This role has a strong focus on VMware and Citrix, plus Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, and Active Directory. Experience with modern on-prem platforms and enterprise hardware is a plus.


Duties Include:

  • Engineer and support Citrix environments (Virtual Apps and Desktops, StoreFront, Netscaler/ADC where applicable).
  • Implement and maintain Azure services (compute, storage, networking, identity integrations, governance).
  • Administer and troubleshoot Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and hybrid identity (Azure AD Connect / cloud sync).
  • Own incident response and root-cause analysis for complex outages and performance issues across compute, storage, and network layers.
  • Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management (firmware, hypervisor, Windows Server, Citrix components).
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: diagrams, runbooks, standards, and change plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions; provide clear communication and status updates via Teams/Zoom/ticketing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help raise operational maturity (monitoring, patching, automation, best practices).

Skills:

  • 7+ years in systems engineering / infrastructure administration (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong experience with Citrix (design/support/troubleshooting; profile management and performance tuning a plus).
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Azure (core services, networking, IAM, monitoring).
  • Advanced knowledge of Entra ID and Active Directory (users/groups, authentication, conditional access concepts, hybrid identity).
  • Strong Windows Server administration skills (patching, roles/features, troubleshooting).
  • Practical networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing basics, firewalls, load balancers; ability to work with network teams).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot under pressure and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences in a remote setting.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Azure Local (or similar hyperconverged/on-prem Azure-integrated platforms).
  • Pure Storage (FlashArray administration, connectivity, performance troubleshooting).
  • Cisco UCS (service profiles, firmware, UCS Manager, integration with VMware).
  • Backup/DR platforms (e.g., Veeam) and recovery planning.
  • Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python) and infrastructure-as-code exposure.
  • Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, HIPAA) and security best practices.
  • Comfortable collaborating asynchronously and documenting work clearly.
  • Able to join video calls during business hours and coordinate after-hours maintenance windows as needed.

Education:

  • Azure Administrator IT Solutions Architect - preferred, or 5+ years experience of hands on experience
  • Citrix Certified Professional Network or Virtualization - preferred, or 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing complex Citrix and Desktop environments.
