Position Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise in support of power systems, engineering design, construction activities, maintenance programs, and operational excellence initiatives. This role is responsible for developing engineering solutions, preparing specifications, reviewing contractor deliverables, supporting project execution, and ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive engineering experience within highly regulated industrial environments and demonstrate strong leadership, mentoring, and technical decision-making capabilities.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Apply engineering principles, standards, and design criteria to power-related systems
• Develop engineering design options and construction packages
• Prepare engineering specifications, project estimates, and technical documentation
• Review engineering deliverables and ensure quality assurance compliance
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to contractors and project teams
• Support engineering design, construction, maintenance, and operational initiatives
• Mentor and train junior engineers and technical personnel
• Support plant health, reliability, and operational excellence programs
• Participate in strategic planning and long-term asset management initiatives
• Conduct engineering evaluations, troubleshooting, and technical assessments
• Utilize engineering software applications and modeling tools to support project objectives
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, construction, vendors, and engineering teams
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures
• Conduct occasional plant walkdowns and field inspections as required
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, or related Engineering discipline preferred
• Minimum 10 years of Engineering Design and Construction Support experience
• Experience working in highly regulated industrial environments
• Strong understanding of engineering design, construction, and maintenance processes
• Experience preparing technical specifications, estimates, and engineering documentation
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to make independent technical decisions
• Must be eligible to maintain unescorted nuclear facility access
Preferred Qualifications
• Nuclear Industry Design Engineering experience
• Experience with Nuclear Design Engineering Standards and Regulatory Requirements
