Equities Technology is looking for a Java developer to work on a combination of custom development and vendor system integration. This position is for an Individual contributor to join an existing agile development team. The team is primarily responsible for all development needed to integrate vendor provided systems with internally developed infrastructure to meet business driven functional requirements and non-functional requirements such as latency, scalability and resiliency. 
Specific Responsibilities

• Develop code in Java for low latency, high throughput applications 
• Work closely with other development teams to provide resilient and scalable infrastructure for equities trading
• Build concurrent, high availability, fault tolerant, high throughput distributed systems
• Design message oriented middleware architecture
• Provide 2nd level production support to solve breaks/issues in real time.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cross functional teams to gather technical requirements 
• Write scripts to automate tasks and daily workflow processes.
• Analyze latency and performance metrics and work with infrastructure engineers to identify and improve latency
• Work in an agile scrum team, using Github, Jira
• Use test driven development and make use of unit tests and test automation 
• Continuously integrate and deploy updates to the platform without impacting its resiliency or consistency.
• Building scalable applications
• Design database schemas, ingest and transform data and develop queries and views
• Excellent written and verbal communications with an ability to summarize and translate between business and technical contexts
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
 



Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: securities, quants, artificial intelligence, or machine learning
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Shell, VBScript, or JavaScript
  • 5+ years of Java experience
  • 5 + years of FIX protocol (Financial Information eXchange) experience
  • 5+ years of relational database experience
  • 3+ years of build-deploy automation and configuration experience within the Linux and Unix environment
  • 5+ years of RESTful or SOAP web services
  • 1+ years of experience with Cloud technologies
  • 1+ year of Kubernetes experience
  • 2+ years of Agile experience


Desired Qualifications

  • A Masters degree or higher in computer science or finance
  • A professional certification in technology
  • Basic knowledge of industry regulations related to building technological solutions
  • 2+ years of Kafka experience


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experienced in best practice techniques for managing latency and performance 
  • Experience in instrumenting, measuring and improving latencies 
  •  Experience, any of the following: Equities, Equity Swaps, Order Management, US Equities market structure, Exchange connectivity, Knowledge of important US equities markets regulation
